Devco
managed the design and construction of the initial
600 tonne per day plant that used hydrogen feedstock
from the adjacent methanol plant owned and operated
by Devco's joint venture partner. Devco operated the
ammonia plant and marketed its products. From 1986
to 1988, Devco also managed the operation and marketing
for the methanol plant.
In
1992 the ammonia plant was expanded to 875 tonnes
per day capacity using innovating technologies and
incorporating an old ammonia plant.
In
1995, the joint venture partners sold their interests
in the ammonia plant to a subsidiary of a Japanese
trading company.
